Shortform is an online platform dedicated to the short-form film industry; from cast and crew, to production companies and agencies, to festivals and schools. This project can get complex quite quickly and might fall beyond the scope of the class, thus we have decided to boil it down to the essential core feature: an interactive directory for the short-form industry.
Shortform consists of a homepage featuring curated works and playlists to celebrate films of artistic merit. Playlists can also be generated from tags (i.e. category, genre, length, format, budget, location, language) assigned to films.
For exploration, we plan on implementing a directory page with filter options, as well as a search-engine function as well to give users the ability to look-up projects using specific keywords. Every element (film, cast and crew, production companies, agencies, film festivals, and film schools) has a page which hyperlinks connected elements to allow the user to hop from one page to another to discover and explore the directory organically.
Additionally, we plan on developing a submission page where a project’s information and supporting media can be submitted to be reviewed by the team before listing.
The Shortform homepage displays featured content including films, collections and trending films. The page features images that link to individual film or collection pages. The header and footer are consistent across the site, featuring links to directories, social media, and submission page, along with a search bar for keyword search. The header also includes a dropdown menu with categories, listed in the footer.
The film page on Shortform displays the film's poster, preview, title, release year, media type, runtime, genre tags, and cast information. The navigation bar and search bar are at the top of the page, with the logo linking back to the homepage. The genre and media type tags are clickable to show all films with that tag. The page also includes a description, cast and crew details, and technical information about the film. The footer features links to various pages and a page description.
The person page on Shortform displays their photos, name, role(s), resume, biography, and contact information. The navigation bar, search bar, and logo are at the top of the page, with the logo linking back to the homepage. The page includes their projects, which are collapsible dropdown menus. The footer features links to various pages and a page description.
The Films Directory page on the website will display a master list of all the films in a table format with film posters and hyperlinked to film pages. The user can filter the films by tags (category, genre, length, etc.) and search for keywords. The filters will be indicated under the 'Film Directory' title. The page also has options to sort and view the content. This structure will be used for the directories of people and collections, with filters and options adjusted accordingly. Accessible f
The Shortform page has a search bar in the header for users to search for content on the site. The Search Results page displays results with the ability to filter by tags and sort/view the results. Each search result includes information such as name, description, writers (for films), and an image of the film poster or person.
The Collection page on the Shortform website displays a group of films categorized in a specific category. The user can access it by navigating to the Collection button. The page shows the collection image, title, description, and list of films with film title, description, and film crews. Users can click on crew names to access their person profile. The films are displayed one project per column.
